Monday 6th July 2009 - 2009 update
july 2009;
got a ribbing for no updating this last week so thought i would.
we're working on material for a new album, so that's keeping us busy. excited by the new stuff.
we've been in shetland, london and aberdeenshire so far this year, as well as a fun gig at the orkney fest with spiers and boden.
we're off to stokes bay and lorient festivals at the start of august.
in october, we're at woodend barn by banchory, and then on down to fest n' furious in dundee.
and that's it i think.
Monday 22nd September 2008 - gigs
we will be playing a few gigs in october
in the gable end theatre, hoy on the 3rd oct
in the finzean hall, aberdeenshire, on the 10th oct
and we'll be at blazin in beauly from 12 - 17th oct
Wednesday 14th May 2008 - strewth! and gigs
15 may 2008
strewth! i'm doing a new biog and thought i d look back over the news section to see when we played where. and was ashamed to see how things have slid - used to be at this every month, now i'm just chuffed i havent missed out a whole year.
we've been pretty busy musically with the chair over the past year and personally with ever growing families. hi joe and lily when you read this in a few years' time.
however, its now high time for some duo action.
album 3 is now at the preproduction stage. which is fancy speak for 'we 've thought a lot about it. we know what we want it to sound like. we have a long list of material that needs to be boiled down. we haven't actually done any recording yet.'
gigs this year -
next week - orkney fest
june - bergen for the weekend
june - magnus fest
july - hebcelt
august - bergen for a week
october - blazin in beauly
i'm going to ask tom to merge the gigs/news sections of this site again. far more likely to add stuff that way i'd say.
just had first enquiries for next year, so made a live compilation. might post a few on myspace
Sunday 25th November 2007 - hightime
hightime i updated... played a lot o good gigs this year. highlight would have been celtic colours in cape breton. great place, lovely folk - remind me a lot of orcadians. just back from another gig in aberdeenshire, at woodend barn. some new stuff taking shape. . . album number three next year i'd say
just to let anybody out there know we're still on the go
cheers
Tuesday 9th January 2007 - update
well it s been a while since i wrote anything here - which probably reflects the quiet time we ve had in the last few months. since i last wrote, douglas has become a proud father to lily and our musical focus has shifted to the big band lazy boy chair with whom we ve been doing a few gigs and some recording too.
anyway, our thoughts are turning to saltfish again now, and we re currently putting some stuff together for the coming year.. there s a few pretty exciting gigs coming up this year, starting with a date at celtic connections on 18th january as part of the orkney night. other confirmed dates are the stonehaven folk festival in july, and an offer of a trip to belgium in septmber. more to follow, as things always take shape throughout january.
Wednesday 19th July 2006
well thats our peedie summer tour over. a great success. spent this morning in the studio laying down a few new 'uns - good to record them while they re fresh.
cheers

Wednesday 24th May 2006
well things really have been quiet haven't they? a peedie flurry of activity just now though; we ve just got back from cannes, where we had a gig at the film festival, and have orkney folk fest starting tomorrow. we re playing with croft no 5 on friday, lazy boy chair are 'stomping' on saturday, and it's the two of us on sunday afternoon at the supplement conceert.
france was fine and relaxed. took an extra day this time, since last year was such a rush. managed to get sunburnt, saw a band called 'spooky pussys' and spent £202.87 on food. don't know how much doug spent.
anyhows. got to go and practice for the weekend. if you see me there, buy me an export! or a plate o chips.
Tuesday 11th April 2006
well, hoots was ok - although it was the usual saturday pub crowd - only half listening. never mind, good hospitality and i wrote a jig in the break :-) also got asked to submit a track for a hoots sampler, so can't see why not.
we re a bit thin on the ground for upcoming performances, although there ll be some tunes at the orkney fest, and a wee trip in july. have a look at the gig guide. i ll not post them here till nearer the time.
Tuesday 28th March 2006
we ll be in hootanannies, inverness on saturday 1st april. if we re there in time, you could buy us wur tea :-)
the aberdeenshire gigs were just out of this world. every night a roaring success, and special thanks to bryony, susan and dave for making it so good. we had a right good laugh, were spectacularly well fed (pheasant soup) and they were the best concerts in a long time.. from a lot of highlights, i was quite taken with the moment after the saturday concert when a sleepwalking bob gibbon tried to find his accordion in jim and bryony's coolerbag.
